my new decor...

as you all know I love decorating my home around the holidays. In my family room I have a wall that is all shelves and then in the center is our TV and above the TV we have a mantle. I love it because that's where I store all our books, albums, games, and then I decorate the shelves and mantle. Well, before I left to CA Eric's cousin Melissa had a Spring Boutique at her home. She puts out all her gorgeous handmade decorations and then people can place orders for the decor. I purchased several items and these two just arrived. I was sooo excited!

And of course I had to put up my Shamrock... oops the candy's already gone LOL.
You can see some funny pictures here on the chix blog and here's a bit about my sis.

I had to...

reach for my box of tissues after reading this sweet email from one of our contest winners.

Georgana,
Thank you very much for choosing me to receive your beautiful new Whoopsy Daisy line. I truly do appreciate it and am so excited!
I would like to take the time to express how much I love AdornIt. Honestly, your company is above and beyond my favorite. I discovered you last February when I saw the wooden "Love" letters at a local shop. Ever since then I have been hooked. The problem was that I wanted to own every wooden piece that you make. Truthfully, I couldn't afford to purchase the wood cut outs and all of the embellishments to decorate them. That's why I was super excited when you decided to produce your workbook and sell subscriptions. Because you have made it so affordable I can spend the money on all of the embellishments and papers for the projects (and I have to have them all)! The really cool thing is that my husband and brother in law have gotten involved and do the woodworking. They are so great about it and often set up shop and knock out nearly every design on a Saturday afternoon.
You and I are probably about the same age and I also have two children (4yr old Ella & 2 yr old Luke) aren't we lucky! I have always loved making "stuff" but the challenge is often finding the right blend of youthful and pretty. Your company always delivers that perfect blend. I once read where someone on you blog remarked that they sometimes feel guilty when making a layout using your products because they come together so quickly. The papers are so detailed that they often do not need much more added to them. For Christmas I made my sister a picture frame using the "Sister" line and framed a photo of the two of us. She loved it and was really impressed, little does she realize how easy it was to make. It is a guilty pleasure because we always want to create in beautiful layers whether it's a scrapbook page or something else but often do not have the time.
I really am glad to have the opportunity to let you know how much your company means to me. Your products give me such a lift and a great feeling when I am working on them as well as when I get to see them displayed in my home or give them as gifts. AdornIt has definitely filled a void that I think there has been in scrapbooking and paper crafting for products that are youthful yet sophisticated. Again, thank you for choosing me for the drawing and for all of the great inspiration! Oh, and please thank your mom for me too!

PS. Can't hardly wait for the 3rd installment of the workbook!
(which I have to add will be out the end of April)

countdown...

Guess what... we're getting so close to launching something so big I can't wait! I'm starting to be blinded by the light at the end of the tunnel. Stay tuned on my blog for the final countdown - it should only be another week or two.
And with that said - I have a new monthly challenge starting this Saturday. Be sure to get all your 'chores' done this week so that you have the weekend to scrap. Okay - gotta get back to work.

Now, can you guess my favorite collection? Okay - well our Whoopsie Collection has called my name from the first day I saw the artwork. The colors just scream happy and the I'm soooo sick of winter how could I not help but love that beautiful color palette. But, in all honesty - I am sooo in love with every single product. The layout above is a quick one I slapped together, in yep - 10 minutes! I was dying to do a page with the new stuff. I have many more ideas up in my head and I'm just waiting for some extra time to myself. Okay, gotta go - but check out this cute picture.

Day 3 with Anam...

I had so much fun with this word – I swung between making it freestanding or making it so it could be hung on a way like a banner but in the end I went for a train like free standing option which could be hung up if I wanted. I painted each word with White Acrylic paint and then made torn strips with the papers and glued them on cutting to shapes – sanded the edges to give it a loved worn look. I made the ‘i ‘ completely covered with a single photo as it seemed such a neat way of incorporating photos into the piece. I added a few little embellishments and then used metal eyelets to attached it all together. I suspect my husband may steal this for his office.
Supplies:
Hardware: Smile Wood Letters
Papers: Dainty Scallops, Heart Fusion.
Embellishments: Accents-Love, Stickers – Glamorous, Ribbon - Tiny Daisy Pink.
Extras: White Acrylic Paint, Metal Eyelets and double sided tape.
