Hi - it's Debbie (Adornit editor) here posting on Georgana's blog (without permission). I may get fired for this, or at least lose my access to the password, but I just have to brag about my boss a bit.
Georgana is one of 13 specially-selected teachers for the BIG IDEA FESTIVAL on the Big Picture Scrapbooking website. This is a free summer scrapbooking festival where different "personalities" in the scrapbook world are featured along with their own special summer projects.
Georgana's profile and project were featured today on BPS. She did a great job - I'm sure everyone is downloading her handout and planning to make her ideas. Please note: it's not too late to be part of the BIG IDEA FESTIVAL on BPS - and it's FREE - so go to the website and sign up now! You can download the handouts and participate on the message boards and gallery. I love going there just for the inspiration and scrapping enthusiasm!
Hats off to you Georgana - you're awesome, and I'm proud of you!
This past weekend was the county fair and Daxton and Boston participated in their first horse show. This was particularly exciting for me because I love horses and grew up showing horses with my family. My Dad mentioned that the boys were old enough this year so I jumped at the chance. I couldn't wait to get the boys belt buckles, cowboy boots, wranglers, and of course a cowboy hat. Daxton participated in Lead Line. That's where he sits on top of the horse and I lead him around the arena, no one is judged because they are still too small. I signed Boston up for Walk & Trot. My dad patiently worked with him the past few weeks teaching him how to ride the horse all by himself. He did wonderful!!! He placed fourth which made him so excited! It was really fun and made me one proud Mamma.

Summertime and the livin’ is easy…yeah right! If you’re like me (Debbie Raymond, Adornit editor), you’re in a panic right now because it’s AUGUST 10 and the days of summer are flying by. Hmmm, August 10 - that reminds me of something…oh yes, it’s challenge time!
The theme for this month’s “10 in 2010” Scrapbook Challenge is Everyday Giggles.
I’m challenging you to scrap about what makes you laugh. I want you to
stop and think about the funny things your friends and family say, or
the cute things your kids do, or the funny way your pet acts. Believe
me, if you don’t record these humorous moments, the memories will be
The challenge requirements are:
These elements are required on your layout to be entered in our prize drawing. You have until Sept. 10 to create your page and post it to Adornit's Facebook page so we can all enjoy!
I asked my scrapping friend Nikki Barton to create some layouts for this month’s challenge. She did an awesome job – I was so tickled when I saw her pages! You’ll see that each layout includes the three challenge requirements.
You can see from Nikki’s layouts, which are made with mostly challenge kit products, that this month’s challenge is a lot of fun and the challenge kit is adorable!Notice that Nikki used rub-ons, stickers, and dimensional flowers in this special layout about Avrie. The kit has papers and embellishments in pink, blue, and lots of brown – color combinations that everyone loves. You’ll find great basics in this kit and a couple of special extras (like my favorite rub-on!).
August’s kit will include all of the Adornit product you see in this photo. At only $12.30 plus shipping, the kit will give you at least three layouts with supplies left over for cards and tags. With the kit, you’ll get a color copy of the sketch shown above –so you can make your first layout in a jiffy! I’ve learned that once you create your fist layout, the creative juices start flowing, and it’s easy to keep scrapping!
I love to pull my hair back in a ponytail, especially on a hot summer day. I used our Owl Dot Fabric and created some really cute pony tail holders. Here's how:
Cut a piece of 24 gauge wire about 3" long. Bend the wire in half to create a loop and insert the ponytail elastic into the loop. Insert the ends of the wire through the holes on the button back and twist for tight closure. Cut lose ends of wire. Make sure you wire the ponytail elastic on the correct side!
Cut a circle out of the fabric you desire, use the template on the back of your packaging. You will need to make sure you have excess so that it can easily wrap around the button.
Center fabric wrong side up, over the mold (included in your kit). Hold fabric firmly and press button shell into mold.
I finished my layout for the scrapbook challenge today. The theme is Summer Favorites, which for me is boating. Summer is never complete without a boating trip. The reqiurements for the challenge were buttons, handwritten journaling, and paper ribbon.
Here are some more photos from a fun night boating with friends:
Like all of you we have been enjoying this summer to our fullest capacity. Here are some highlights from July:
The arrival of our fabric line!!!! Which by the way, is now SOLD OUT!! We have been blown away at the response to our first line and want to say THANK YOU to everyone! For those of you who have not gotten their hands on the fabric yet we will be reprinting and it will be back in stock in September.
A very exciting day at Lagoon (our local amusement park). The kids loved swimming & riding all the rides.
5. And lots and lots of other great experiences such as Daxton finishing summer school, several boating trips, watching my sister Jackie win 2nd Runner up at the Miss Rodeo Utah Contest, BBQ's with family and friends, a few Girls Night Out dates, and a fun family bridal shower to celebrate my cousin getting married.
