spotlight time...

It's time for a Design Team Spotlight. I chose to Lynn Whelan who is one of our original DT members - I can't even think of how many years she has shared her talents with us. She is such a doll and has the cutest clothes (my mom always comments on how cute she looks when she sees Lynn). Here is a bit more about Lynn.
Lynnwhelan

I live in Georgia with my husband of 19 years, son Andrew (15) and daughter Morgan (10). We also have a black lab named Mac and a crazy cat, Dhuey. The perfect scrapbook family, wouldn’t you say? I have been scrapbooking for about 6 years now. It was bound to become obsessive since it was my first artistic endeavor in nearly 15 years! And I have always loved art. Once I found scrapbooking magazines and online communities I was completely hooked. Carolee’s Creations found me through an online gallery in 2003, and I have been on their design team ever since. I was also asked to teach classes at one of our local scrapbook stores and later became an employee there.

I love scrapbooking because it allows me to use my creative side and try all kinds of new products and techniques. It has helped me to become a better and more diligent photographer, and has opened so many opportunities for me. I love that my children (& my husband and I) will be able to look back on so many forgotten memories in the future. Having pages published from time to time in several magazines also gives me a feeling of accomplishment, and my children love it. And I am so thankful for the friends I have made along the way. You can’t ask for a more fulfilling hobby than that!

My favorite Adornit product would have to be their patterned papers.  They have evolved as much as my scrapping style has over the years. Their coordinating themes offer such a great mixture of colors and sizes of patterns that I don’t have to look elsewhere for anything to make my pages interesting.

I love this page Lynn created and it is published in our latest, Fall 2007 catalog. Thanks for sharing your talents with us Lynn!

Spotlight Time...

It's been a while since I have posted a spotlight on one of our design team members. Today I want to spotlight Eileen Workman. Eileen has been on our team over a year and has inspired us with every idea. She can always put such a fun twist on the Adornit products and altered projects.
Eileenworkman
Here is Eileen's personal bio: I’m Eileen and I live just seven minutes north of the Adornit warehouse/retail store in Northern Utah. I have been scrapbooking for almost 14 years.  I’m so very glad for the changes that have come to pass in the industry, and it’s fun to see some of the trends "come back" (decorative scissors). I have four children (the three oldest are married) and my youngest is a junior in high school. I have two granddaughters, Grace, age 2, and Emma is 5 months old. They are my reason for living and scrapbooking.  I recently found out that I have another grandbaby on the way! My dear husband of 27 plus years is so very patient with my hobby/passion. He just rolls his eyes when I have to scrapbook on the kitchen table because my scrapbook room is too messy.

My goal in scrapbooking is not just to make a cute page for my photos, but to make my photos look         cute on a page. My focus is always my photos. I cherish the photos I take, and if I can make them look better on a scrapbook page, then that’s why I love to scrapbook. Besides making your photos look good, scrapbooking is a journal, a life history, a memory, and a creative outlet.

I feel very fortunate to be on the Adornit Design Team, and because of it, I get to use all of their products! I LOVE all of their stuff, but I think my favorite product would have to be their solid twill ribbons. They come in 12 yummy colors and match almost every line of paper that Adornit makes.

If you head over to our online gallery you will see that we asked Eileen to create several fun ideas using our new Father products. My personal favorite was this altered prescription bottle! Thanks Eileen for inspiring us and being part of our fun team.

spotlight time...

I love the style and personality that Jana brings to our 2007 Design Team. Today I'm going to introduce you to Jana Eubank. For as long as I can remember I've gravitated towards anything paper-related . . . giant packs of crayons, tiny stationery sets, smelly stickers, markers, paints, you name it. It was only natural for me to become completely absorbed in scrapbooking when it came out mainstream with all of its wonderful products!

I love several things about scrapbooking. I love that it celebrates family and life. My family is the most important thing to me, so naturally I love doing something that pays tribute to them. I love that scrapbooking satisfies me creatively as well as socially. I love collecting supplies and combining them in interesting ways. I love experimenting with different styles and techniques. Creativity is my passion. With a background in graphics I have gained a deeper appreciation for great design. I am continually amazed by so many talented scrapbookers in this industry. I hope to give back a little inspiration to others as I work on the Adornit 2007 Design Team. I live in Utah with my husband (who lovingly calls me a "paper nerd") and am fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom to the four most amazing kids in the world!

I chose to spotlight this cute layout of her family. I like how clean and simple the layout is and how the photo is the center of the layout. Her tip for this layout is to change pictures to black and white when you have too much contrast in your photos. Thanks for inspiring and sharing your talent with us Jana! Look forward to gallery projects from Jana mid April - you'll love all of them!

In the Spotlight...

This week our Design Team Spotlight is on new-comer Danielle Calhoun. She is on the 2007 team and I have already been inspired by her beautiful layouts in our Spring Catalog. Meet Danielle...
2007_danielle_pic

Hi, I'm Danielle Calhoun. I live in

Northern California with my husband of eight years, and my two little girls, ages 2 and 4. I love spending time with my family, shopping, and having fun! I have been scrapbooking for eight years, but have always loved art and photography. I really enjoy photography, and I have the most beautiful little subjects to photograph. These photographs give me so much inspiration.

Scrapbooking is so much more than a hobby for me. I truly love the creative expression involved with the process. I love the legacy that my pages will leave for my children. I love how excited my family is to see my work. I love it all. I can't say enough about how much I love scrapbooking.

I am so proud to be a part of this amazing Adornit team—the friendly people, and the awesome products. I really believe in all of the products that Adornit offers, but I just LOVE the Stick 'em Clear Stamps! Ohhh, the designs of these stamps are just perfect! Such beautiful stamps, with never-ending creative possibilities.

This is one of the layouts in the Spring 2007 catalog that Danielle created. I love how beautiful this picture is of her daughters and the cute flowers she made using the #90094 Reflections Stamps. You can't see it here, but she put glitter on the flowers which makes it even more beautiful in person. Thanks for inspiring us Danielle!

Spotlight...

I want to spotlight one of our Design Team members each week and I am going to first start with Celia King who is new for the 2007 year. Here is her picture and a little bit about her. I hope you have fun getting to know each of them a bit better.
Celia_bw_photo

Hi, I’m Celia King! First of all, I’m so honored to be part of this team! A little about me…I live in

Northern California, in the small town of Oakley. I grew up in San Francisco and have continued to live in Northern California my whole life. I just love it here!!! As for my job, I have two bosses, Jacob (3) and Caleb (1.5). They keep me real busy! And even though I’m a “stay”-at-home mom, we are rarely at home. I also am a freelance photographer, and my boys are my favorite subjects! I’ve been married to my college-sweetheart Matt for almost five years. He is a wonderful, supportive husband that puts up with this obsession called scrapbooking!

I love what scrapbooking provides: a creative outlet for me. It’s just so relaxing after the kids are finally asleep; I get all night to myself to unwind and scrap. Yes, this is my favorite thing about scrapbooking. Of course I just love to play with new product and to express my emotions through my layouts.

My favorite Adornit product…this one is tough…I just adore the new Love Collection! Every paper, sticker, ribbon is too adorable for words! I also love each and every clear acrylic stamp, the designs are amazing!

Below is one of Celia's layouts that you can find in our Spring 2007 Catalog. I love the way Celia used the ribbon as a corner accent. She ties a knot in the ribbon and then adheres it to the corner of her page. I was very inspired by this look and have found myself doing it on lots of my pages lately.
