Tuesday with Amber...

Howdy Howdy!!!!
After this blog entry we only have 1 MORE WEEK to go until CHA!!! HOw exciting is that?! I can't tell you how excited I am... but maybe you've guessed it by now!  Today I get to talk about the album set. The album set has been ordered and we just got the preview for it yesterday. It looks KILLER! It's so funny when you sit down to create something, you spend hours upon hours making it just right, then you just sit and wait, and to see the finished product....... it's completely surreal. You've seen it on your computer screen and you may have printed it out on your computer, but nothing beats the feeling and moment when you see YOUR product in "official" wrapping and your name on it. And they always look so much better in real life than they do on a screen. So, here's the preview of the album and a few pages on the inside.

Aren't they fab?! As a reminder, It comes with the album, 24 papers, two 12x12 sheets of diecuts, and one 12x12 sheet of stickers, 14 page protectors. That's over 280 pieces! So it's a great deal, perfect for those of you who just want something that doesn't take a lot of thought. I love how it turned out, I really hope you do too! i love how versatile it is. You can use it for a baby, a wedding, girl, cousins, family, etc. Can't get any better than that right? And to make things even better, 4 of the papers in the album will be available open stock! That means that those 4 papers will be available for purchase separately. The colors are so nice, soft colors and different kinds of flowers. I've seen a LO made with my papers and it is so cool! Once I get the product myself, I'll be posting LO's and projects on my own blog for ideas. Thanks so much for everyone's support! Next week's the final week........see ya then! -Amber

Tuesday with Amber...

Hello!!!
Today you get to hear about ME!!!! I'll just tell you some things that I know you are dying to hear about! I'm a SAHM of 3 kids. Been married to my hubby for 5.5 years. Live in GA right now where he is currently working on his MFA and will graduate in Nov. I've been scrapbooking since I was about a sophomore in High School. I had this project I had to do and my mom had this huge tupperware full of cardstock, deco scissors, pictures, and books of clipart- that I dug through to make a little scrapbook. I loved it! I finished my first "album" with pictures of my childhood. I did it sporadically through HS and really got into in once I hit college. All my roomies were into scrapbooking, so that's when I discovered stickers and paper borders. I did my wedding album (twice) and my childrens albums all within 2 years. We had to move in with my parents before moving here to GA, so I fell out of the habit. We moved to GA and didn't have a place for all my stuff, so I pulled it out every once in a while. After about 1.5 years of not scrapbooking, I went into my LSS to see if I could get a job. And she hired me! I started teaching basic classes. That was it- when working in a scrapbook store, you "have" to use all the latest products and test everything out- so I did! I've been working and die hard scrapping for 3 years now. I started my own album business about 2 years ago. I did TONS of albums for other people,  including Paula Dean. I was able to bring my confidence up enough to start trying for publications. Within the first month of submitting, I got picked up by my first mag. Since then, I've been published several times. I've entered contests and Design Teams. I've had a huge fulfilment of my "career". Now that I've become Adornit's Apprentice, I couldn't have asked for anything more. It's been a real roller coaster ride. I've stayed up all hours of the night and I've had fun times too.
I now get the opportunity to go to CHA in a couple of weeks and I couldn't be more excited! I've done my shopping for new clothes, I've gotten my hair done, got all my reservations made, and just sitting here waiting for the next 2 weeks to fly by! I'll be going to DisneyLand and shopping of course while I'm there, but the biggest and best thing is obviously attending CHA. I'm so stinkin' excited! What an amazing ride it's been. Thanks to all of you who read this and have supported me. I hope this designing can turn into a long-term thing for me. I enjoy it so much and I have so many ideas that I am just dying to share with everyone! C ya next week!

Tuesday with Amber...

Happy New Year everyone!
Just going to show you a GREAT sneak peek at the open shelf line. Yes... the 2 lines have been combined into one- and it's called the Amber line. So here are some of the papers involved.
Amber_layout

Just a reminder- ribbon, and foam stickers will be made to match these papers, but will not be sold as a set. And I finally have an updated pic too! I don't think there's anything worse than putting a picture out there for the world to see that you don't like. So here's one that I actually do like!
Amber_winward_picture Hope you enjoy the peek....... more to come in the next couple weeks! Only 3 weeks left to CHA!!!! -Amber

Tuesdays with Amber...

Hey everyone! Ok- Once again.. time for the weekly update on whats going on with the new lines coming out! Aren't you excited to read about it this week?! ok- So I've said a little about the open shelf lines. I've shown you the colors (you can refer to November posts to find them again)- and now I'm gonna tell you what can go with them. I've made the matching ribbons- which you saw last week, and I've also made matching foam stickers and a chipboard set. Now Adornit is starting up a new line of chipboard items. They are going to be FABULOUS!!!!! I'm  (once again) so excited to see these in person! My chipboard set will include a border piece, separate flowers- which are "building" flowers. they will have several different shaped flowers to "build" on each other. Plus a couple other pieces.... but it's going to be so fun to use. I personally- get very little inspiration by product alone. I have to have the pictures and paper in front of me and then choose my embellishment product. So to have a piece of chipboard in front of me and DYING to use it... says a lot. Like I said before, I want to create products that I myself would love to use... so hopefully there are a lot of you out there that feel the same. The foam stickers are so adorable! Adornit has been selling these and they've been a huge hit! Check them out on their website!! These foam stickers will coordinate with the open lines. They will include flowers, photo ancors, tags, and circles. And I'll be nice and give you yet another sneak peak at what it looks like! All these items will be sold separatley- but will all be coordinated. Literally- you could buy every piece and it would be a kit in and of itself. So cool! Thanks for all the support! I think countdown should begin pretty soon- we only have about 6 weeks until CHA 2007!!!!!

Tuesdays with Amber...

Happy Tuesday!
I have to keep going back to my previous posts to remember what I've talked about and what I haven't yet! lol- goes to show how much there is to talk about eh?!
Well..... couple of things today. I'll give you a pic of a sneak peek at the acrylic stamp set and ribbon set. first.... the acrylic stamps. I love this set! I can't wait to use it. It's a mix of flowers and swirly, scribble, fluer de lis, type images... lol. (like how I TRY to explain things?!)  These stamps can be used to coordinate with the album kit, the two open shelf lines, or anything else you have!
It comes on a 4 x 6 sheet like the rest of the Adornit stamps. I try to create product that I myself would use, and I would definitely use these!
Stampsetsneakpeek

The second is the ribbon set. It is a set of 4 coordinating pattern ribbons that match the 2 open shelf lines. I still have yet to name those by the way- anybody wanna throw some names out there for me to use?! Anyway- The ribbons are a definite must if you purchase the lines. I'd use them even if I didn't. And if you thought you'd get a sneak peek at any of the papers, here's your chance- cause' the ribbon patterns are a few of the patterns on the papers! (or close to it!)
Ribbonsetsneakpeek

And for your information...... I"M ALL DONE! All final designs were sent off and Adornit has them in their hands. They will be sent to the printers this week! It was a rough time last weekend finishing up all the stuff. I've had most of the designs done for a while, but to tighten everything up, make sure they are the right size and format, just organizing all of it into their respective files, takes quite a bit of time i wasn't planning on. I spent 30-40 hours over 3 days last week trying to get it all done! But alas- it's completed and all we have to do is wait...... which will obviously be the hardest part! Enjoy the peeks........aren't you even more excited now?!

Tuesdays with Amber...

Hello and Happy Holidays!
I'm so glad it's this time of year again. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope ya'll did too! I've been feverishly working on completing all the lines and products I've come up with. Good news for you- all finished items are due by the end of this week to put to print! I'm very excited to see how they all turn out. I've pretty much told you all about the items I'm doing. I'll go over a few more specifics as the weeks go on though.
One item I can focus on today is Alphabet stickers. Adornit is starting a new product. These stickers are foamy/poofy stickers. Don't know the exact material, Carolee tried explaning them to me and they sound super cool. Anyway- I have come up with an alphabet that will be made out of this material. The edges will be faux "inked" to look like they are distressed already. How cool and easy is that? I absolutely LOVE alphabet stickers..... this wil be a huge bonus to my collection. I know I have to ink EVERYTHING under the sun. And it can be quite time consuming, so to have a product that has it done already- makes it a lot easier. To describe my font....... um.... let's see. I guess it's a mix between handwritten and text. I guess it's uniform messiness?! hahahaha- that's the best way to describe it! Along with the rest of my items, I am very excited for this one as well. I'll be coming up with some projects with these included on them once they have been printed as well.
I'd give you a glance at my font, but that would ruin the surprise....... maybe once I complete it- I'll give you a sneeky peeky?!
Things continue to move forward. I have to add that being an Apprentice is so much fun. I'm definitely learning so much. I knew a lot had to go into making product, but seriously...... it's really A LOT! I've been sent file upon file on how to put things together and the correct sizes and formats and shapes...... it's difficult to keep it all straight unless you are very organized! (it's a good thing I am!)
Until next week.................. :)

Tuesdays with Amber...

Hey everyone! As I sat down today thinking of what I was going to tell you, it occurred to me that I never gave you a sneak peek at the Hailey Line. So here's the colors that are in that collection. Just a reminder- this is an All-In-One album kit.
Haileycolors

Now, the next thing I can tell you, that I am sooo excited for, is the next thing that will be coming out! I have designed a chipboard mini album and a "Treasure Box". Don't know if that's what it's going to be called, but we'll just name it that for now. The mini album is adorable. It's designed differently- the way that it opens is unique and for display purposes, is quite perfect. :)  The box, what will happen is this: will have a lid that can be pulled off and when that happens, the sides fall open. you are left with a completely blank canvas on both sides of the box. What I love is that you can have it as a display piece or you can hang it on the wall. I am so excited for this to come out! I'll be doing examples with it once it comes out.
I've been so blessed by this opportunity- I just hope everyone is as excited as I am! There's more to share, but I'll leave that for the weeks to come! By the time I'm done explaining everything- you're going to want every single item that's coming out. And believe me....... with what Adornit has planned to debut in Jan-----you won't want to miss a single thing! Let's just say, start drooling now.......I know I am!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving this week!

Tuesdays with Amber...

Hey everyone! It's that time again! So last week I talked to you about the Hailey Line. This week will be about my 2 "open shelf" lines that will be coming out also. I haven't named them yet.... lol- acutally, I had them named, then i found another line by this company with the same name... so that wouldn't work out! So now I have to come up with a different name for them! Anyway, the inspiration for these lines came from a pillow that I own. It's the color combination that inspired me so much. Now, instead of telling you the color combination of these lines- i'll show you! Now- mind you, the picture shows the colors- but they are much brighter in real life. (insert picture)  There is a difference between these lines. They do use the same color combination, but they are different hues and tones, and they have different texture on them. BUT- what's great about them is that you can purchase any paper from each line and they will coordinate! That's right.... 2 lines that can be used together... how fun is that?! I can't begin to tell you how excited I am for these lines. They are the favorite-ist (one of my words!) things I've designed thus far. THey are fun, bright colors that can be used for ANYTHING! boy, girl, summer, fall, teenagers, family, etc. I've printed these pages out on my home computer and made some LO's for all my children and husband! Absolutely fabulous!- so.... now that I've peeked your interest enough,  that's all I'm gonna show you! I know- it's like scratching an itch just once then walking away..... but you'll have to wait like everyone else to see them! I've also made matching ribbons. I'll be making chipboard and stickers to go along with them too! Start getting all excited- we only have 2 months until the big reveal!!!Colors

Tuesdays with Amber...

Hey everyone!
Now that you know all about me- time to get down to the nitty gritty of how I work. Since finding out about this contest and starting to design, I found myself drawn to home decor and fashion as my inspiration. Whatever is HOT at the moment- is always found in those two genres. So I do a lot of research online to find my inspriation. I will be dropping little clues here and there about the lines- ( yes I said LINES) that will be coming out in Jan..... so pay attention! I will focus on one line today. It will be called the Hailey line, and will be an album kit. In my original submission for the contest, I had done 3 lines. One named after each of my children. (tender... I know!) So the Mia line was the one that won (my youngest daughter), and the Hailey line is the one I'm working on now (my oldest daughter).  It will consist of an album, complete with matching papers and stickers. There may be a few extras, but we'll see how that goes later on. I am so excited about this line! It is a mix of subtle and soft colors. It can be used for baby, girl, marriage, anniversary, etc. I want to focus on creating lines that can be used for several purposes and people. I like simplicity. I like organized pattern. I usually create a small cluster of a pattern then duplicate it all over the page. This line has a mix of patterns and matching plain colored pieces. My inspiration for this line came from a shirt that I own. I absolutely loved it and found that I was able to create an entire line from it!! So here I am, sitting at my computer working on final details of this line. It is just about complete! And here's a pic of my son, who seems to think he's funny......... this is what I have to deal with on a daily basis and try to work at the same time... lol! I continue to work hard. I hope to create product lines that come out and that several styles can be attracted to. So stay tuned.... I'll have more pics and posts next week!
