Guest Blogger: Jing-Jing Nickel

I am so excited for this week because Jing Jing is our guest blogger and she is so talented and full of energy!!! I met Jing Jing during our Adornit Blog Hop and I have instantly fallen in love with her designs. Meet Jing-Jing:

I am Jing-Jing Nickel. Pronounce it like there are nickels in your pocket making that jingling noise! *laugh* 

 

I was born and raised in Shanghai, China. My teenage years were spent in Dakar, Senegal, a West African nation. I went to college in Minnesota and hold a graduate degree in mathematics from the University of Arizona. Now I work full time in the Twin Cities, MN, as an I.T. engineer. 

 

When I started scrapbooking in 1999, it was the most perfect extension of my love for traveling and travel photography.  Then with the birth of my first daughter, a new dimension of scrapbooking as well as a new realm of creative possibilities was born with her. Today and every day, I scrap my family, my trips, and my family on trips. 

 

After nine years of scrapbooking, I finally began submitting to publications in June 2008. I was honored to be named one of the runners-up to the Memory Makers Master 2009 Contest. I have been fortunate enough to have publications in Memory Makers, Scrapbook Trends, Scrapbooking and Beyond, Cards, and Creating Keepsakes. Adornit Printed Photo Canvas...

 

Almost a year ago we started our Canvas Photo Printing for customers and I just barely had my favorite photos (taken by Eileen) printed up and stretched for our family room wall. Eric was equally excited and hung them up as soon as I brought them home. I LOVE how they turned out! If you want to learn more about our canvas printing click here.

Happy Birthday Scrapbook Barn...

I want to congratulate Scrapbook Barn on 10 successful years of business! They are having a fabulous weekend to celebrate so i you are local (Gilbert, AZ) stop by and join in the fun. This is a class they are teaching using our Rae Collection and wood plaque (there is plexi glas on the picture). Jennifer, you did a beautiful job creating this.

Halloween Wood Storybook...

First, I want to let you know that SuzieL is the winner of the Halloween Kit. Congrats!

 

 

I can’t wait to introduce our new Halloween WOOD STORYBOOK! I made this over the weekend with our Halloween pictures from last year. Notice how BIG this album is – nine by fifteen inches to be exact! The storybook includes four shaped pages cut out of 1/8” wood and four plastic sheet protectors for additional scrapbook pages. Autumn Pumpkins...

I love Halloween but I also love to purchase/make decor that can be kept out for the fall season and not put away after the Trick or Treating is done. These are NEW Dimensional Wood Pumpkins. These wood pumpkins are easy to finish because they start out as flat surfaces. Then, after you have painted and decoupaged, you slide them together to create 3-D pumpkins. Halloween Treats...

These are the perfect favors for your Halloween party or gifts for co-workers. These little cones are easy to make – kids love seeing the transformation from flat paper to dimensional cone. (You can practice with cheap flat paper plates.) In this project, your stapler will be your best friend – or you can glue the seams. The new Adornit Halloween scrapbook papers work well because the papers are double sided and heavy weight. Fill them with your favorite candy!

Halloween Layouts...

Halloween is a celebration of dressing up in costumes and going out trick or treating... something every kid loves. Before we head out for the night I like to take pictures of my kids in costume while the anticipation of the night is in their eyes. Here's photos of my children from last year.

I had so much fun playing with the paper and pulling out a needle and embroidery thread to give my layouts extra texture. What I LOVED was playing with our new Clear Stickers. They are so fun because the have the look of a rub-on or transparency but without the fuss. I cut Elegance Black Sticker apart and applied them to the sides of the photos.

Welcome Halloween Season!

I loooove Halloween! The crisp fall air is surrounding us here in Cache Valley, UT. This week on the blog I'm going to share some great decor projects, layout ideas, and treat bags.
