October Scrapbook Challenge!

{ In the Kitchen, Every Day }

De bbie here, to announce that it’s challenge time! October  brings us to our second-to-last “10 in 2010” Scrapbook Challenge for this year. Whether you’ve created layouts and submitted them - or not - I hope you’ve enjoyed thinking about the little things in your everyday lives each month.

For the month of October, I want you to focus on your KITCHEN – so the title of this month's challenge is “In the Kitchen, Every Day.”

Create a layout that describes something about being in your kitchen. Maybe your page will feature a photo of your family at breakfast or a photo of you at your kitchen table with your favorite beverage. It could be a special recipe you’d like to remember or a dinner tradition that your family enjoys. Perhaps you’d like to include more journaling on this layout and write about your family’s food customs – for example, what you eat for birthdays or holidays.

Give it some thought and I'm sure you’ll end up with an interesting and meaningful scrapbook page. I can’t wait to see the layouts you create!

September Scrapbook Challenge

Hi, it’s Debbie with September’s "10 in 2010" Scrapbook Challenge. This month we’re staying close to home as we create a layout about the view from our own front door - or any view from your home or yard.

As you may (or may not) remember, the theme of our Scrapbook Challenge is “Bits and Pieces of Everyday Life.” We have focused on the small moments that make life worth remembering. For September, we’re going to document what we look at every day. Whether you like your view or not, having a layout about that view will become an interesting part of your personal story.

I challenge you to grab your camera, snap a photo, and create a layout of your everyday views. 

My first layout is from my back yard looking across our valley to the mountains in the west. I love the clouds in this photo and the golden fields that signal the end of summer.

The challenge requirements for this month are:

stitching

flourish, paisley or swirl

brackets

These elements are required on your layout to be entered in our prize drawing. You have until Oct. 10, 2010 at midnight MDT to create your scrapbook page and post it to Adornit's Facebook fan photos or to the Mr. Linky link at the end of this blog post.

This photo is one of my favorite views – from my front porch. Of course, this is a beautiful time of year with green grass and colorful flowers. Notice that I used the three requirements on my layouts - the stitching, the flourish, and the brackets. Too bad I can’t win the prize!

August Scrapbook Challenge

Summertime and the livin’ is easy…yeah right! If you’re like me (Debbie Raymond, Adornit editor), you’re in a panic right now because it’s AUGUST 10 and the days of summer are flying by. Hmmm, August 10 - that reminds me of something…oh yes, it’s challenge time!

The theme for this month’s “10 in 2010” Scrapbook Challenge is Everyday Giggles. I’m challenging you to scrap about what makes you laugh. I want you to stop and think about the funny things your friends and family say, or the cute things your kids do, or the funny way your pet acts. Believe me, if you don’t record these humorous moments, the memories will be gone.

The challenge requirements are:

I asked my scrapping friend Nikki Barton to create some layouts for this month’s challenge. She did an awesome job – I was so tickled when I saw her pages! You’ll see that each layout includes the three challenge requirements.

I knew Nikki’s photos would be perfect for this month because of her extra-cute little daughter Avrie…and her extra-funny husband Derek. How great are those photos!

 

You can see from Nikki’s layouts, which are made with mostly challenge kit products, that this month’s challenge is a lot of fun and the challenge kit is adorable!

Notice that Nikki used rub-ons, stickers, and dimensional flowers in this special layout about Avrie. The kit has papers and embellishments in pink, blue, and lots of brown – color combinations that everyone loves. You’ll find great basics in this kit and a couple of special extras (like my favorite rub-on!).

July Scrapbook Challenge...

I finished my layout for the scrapbook challenge today. The theme is Summer Favorites, which for me is boating. Summer is never complete without a boating trip. The reqiurements for the challenge were buttons, handwritten journaling, and paper ribbon.

July Scrapbook Challenge

Here it is, July 10, and time for another SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGE! I’m Debbie Raymond, Adornit editor and ‘challenge promoter.’ Guess what! We’re halfway through our “10 in 2010” Scrapbook Challenge. Hard to believe, huh? If you’ve followed along with our challenges so far, you should have completed FIVE layouts - a great accomplishment! If you start TODAY, and participate in the rest of the challenges, you’ll end the year with five completed layouts – and you’ll be glad you did! (We’re ending in November.)

Don't forget that each month I create a custom, inexpensive CHALLENGE KIT that you can order to get your scrapping finished even faster! You can read about it at the end of this post.

I want to begin this challenge with a favorite quote by Henry David Thoreau:

“Heaven is under our feet, as well as over our heads.”

I love this quote! If you read it carefully you’ll realize that it can apply to anyone in any stage of life. Heaven can be one of many favorite things - the sand on a beach, the grass in a park, or little children underfoot in our scrapbooking rooms.

To me, July is a month of favorites, so your scrapbook challenge is to celebrate your favorite things or activities. The title of the July challenge is “Summer Favorites.”

Here's my first layout with the challenge requirements. This cute sheet of paper "Lovefest Flowers" is designed with all the flowers on it - no cutting and gluing. All I had to do is add my photos. The stripes across the center and next to the photos look like ribbon, but are really pieces of the coordinating striped paper. (Remember the challenge includes using paper as ribbon - it's easy with stripes.) I love Adornit stuff!

Just remember that to be entered into the monthly prize drawing, you WILL have to use the three required elements. And you’ll have to post your layout somewhere so we can see it! And here's my second layout (above). Notice the challenge requirements: buttons, strips of paper used as ribbon, and handwritten journaling (a real challenge for me because I hate my handwriting). BONUS LAYOUT AND ONE MORE CHALLENGE!

Finally, I just had to share this layout, made by my little granddaughter, six-year-old Bailee. She and her sister Brookelyn were at my house over the 4th, and we scrapped together. They loved it! If you have kids - or any beginning scrapper, I CHALLENGE (!) you to let them join you in an afternoon of scrapping. Yes, it's kind of stressful, but the results are precious.

June Challenge

Hi - it's CHALLENGE time! Debbie here, with three cute layouts to share and a fun challenge for the month of June. The theme for this month is "Outside Every Day." I recruited my niece, Michelle Weed, to create a layout for the challenge. She made the adorable layout below using one of my all-time favorite scrapbook papers. It's called Leaves from the Bee Happy Collection. I love her layout about life on "the farm."

Michelle lives on a farm that has the one of the most famous barns in our area: the "Dr. Pierce's Women's Tonic" barn. Her husband, Matt, actually likes doing chores, and he and Michelle plant a huge garden every year. (You can read more about Michelle's farm life on her blog here.) Thanks Michelle - your scrapping skills are much appreciated!

This is the fifth month for Adornit's "10 in 2010" Challenge; I sure hope you are playing along and enjoying the layouts you've made. May "10 in 2010" Scrapbook Challenge

The theme for May’s scrapbooking challenge is “A Special Day in May.” This year-long challenge is to help you scrap everyday life – and if you start with our monthly challenge today, you’ll end up with seven layouts for 2010! That’s seven simple layouts that you’ll always treasure. To make it even easier for you, I designed a great May Challenge Kit for quick and cute scrapping!

April Scrapbook Challenge...

Hi, Debbie here, with Adornit’s monthly scrapbooking challenge! April’s theme is “Daily Travels.” Remember that the purpose of this year-long challenge is to help you scrap “bits and pieces of everyday life.” I want you to end up with ten layouts that focus on little things that you wouldn’t ordinarily scrapbook about – the everyday moments that are quickly forgotten.

 

Each month I’ll announce three required elements that you must have on your layout. I will also suggest a theme – but using the theme is optional. Just remember that to be entered into the monthly prize drawing, you WILL have to use the three required elements. And you’ll have to post your layout somewhere so we can see it! If you come back to this post and link to the Mr. Linky gadget at the bottom, we’ll be able to find your layout. You can also post it to our Facebook fan page (instructions at the end of this post).

 

The Challenge Requirements are:

• something scalloped
• photo with YOU in it!
• mini alphabet or small cut-out letters

Now what could your layout have on it? Here are some ideas for you: A photo of your car – inside or outside, a photo of YOU inside your car, a photo of kids in their car seats, a page about your commute, a page about carpools, photo of the scenery you see as you drive, a page of YOU on your daily jog or walk, anything that tells about your everyday travels.

March Scrapbook Challenge...

I have had this page in mind for quite some time and I was so happy when Debbie gave the challenge this month, "What We Say, Every day."

I'm not quite sure exactly when it happened but somewhere along the line Boston started calling his little brother Buddy or Bud for short. Anytime he addresses Daxton it is by BUddy. Thanks Debbie for finally helping get this onto a scrapbook page!
